great camera
I really like this camera, it is compact , takes great pictures and i love the big screen and image stabilization features.

I do find the manual is not as easy to follow as I would like & why does it only come with a test memory card?

Great Point-and-Shoot, but you still want to know how to use it
I have been using this camera for about a year and I love it. As far as point-and-shoots go, it's great, however, it's a point-and-shoot and has those limitations:

The good:
- Takes great quality photos for a point-and-shoot, even on the preset modes
- For someone like me, who doesn't know how to use an SLR, it's easy enough to use the manual features like exposure controls and long-shutter
- The wide lens is great for group shots or outside shots
- The stabilizer helps a great deal on taking shots; my previous camera didn't have one and I had way more blurry shots
- In proper light, the movie quality is pretty good at 640x480. With an 8 gig-card, it's not bad for a cheap video camera replacement, though by no means is it a camcorder
- It's tiny and can fit easily into jeans, which is great for guys, as we don't care purses (at least most guys)
- The wheel is actually touch sensitive, which I don't think Canon points out, but if you have a big memory card (I have an 8 GB), it's the best way to scroll through photos really quickly
- The LCD is great and I've never had issues using it, even outdoors in bright sun (and in California that is important)

The bad:
- It's a point-and-shoot so the flash sucks. I have the external flash add-on, but it's cumbersome to carry and kind of defeats the purpose of having a tiny camera. This is to be expected of a camera this size
- Because of the small size, there is slight barrel distortion, but it's really not a big deal
- The camera does scratch easily. While it fits in your pocket, if you have keys it will scratch the camera. My first one got really scuffed up after I left it in pocket one day. Now I don't put anything else in the pocket with it, or use the case, which is somewhat bulky
- Above ISO400 the image quality is really poor, so taking night photos without a tripod is not easy unless the subjects are close enough for the flash--but no point-and-shoot can really do this

After a year of using this camera I have to say I really happy with it, especially after learning more about how I, as a user, can take better photos in general. Here are some tips I've found:

- If you're taking photos with the flash, set your mode to macro if you're very close and infinity if the subject is more than 4 meters away, it makes a difference. For close shots, use macro mode and zoom into the subject so the light from the flash doesn't bounce off the object too quickly
- If you're taking night shots, use the red aimer thing to make sure there is somewhere to bounce the light off. If, for example, you are taking a picture of someone, the best thing to do outside is to flash the light towards a pole or object just behind, this way the flash doesn't go on their face (and have that whitening effect), and bounces back fast enough to take a clear shot
- For proper night shots you need to use a tripod. If the objects aren't moving that much long shutter is the best way to do this, but it takes a long time and any camera shake will screw it up. To get long shutter, go to the exposure setting and press display to get to long shutter
- Learn some basics about taking photographs, it really helps. Higher ISOs make it easier to take stable shots, but they make the photos grainier. Natural light, if possible, takes more accurate photos than the flash, as the flash whitens, don't stay too close to your subject, use the zoom (it will distort the faces, especially the nose as the light doesn't bounce back evenly). I never bothered to learn this things and 10 minutes of reading makes your photos so much better
- Take practice shots. Too many of my group photos (I take many) were dark or didn't have the right light in the past, and many times it is because I didn't want to take test shots to calibrate. If you're at a restaurant the waiter or waitress will take one or two shots, so if you want it to count have it set up beforehand, it's the only way to be sure
- Remember this isn't an SLR--it's a great point-and-shoot and takes great photos, but if you want that beautiful "pro" look you need an SLR and you need to know how to use it

I love this camera
I absolutely love my Cannon PowerShot SD870IS camera. I found a nice case to keep it in at RS. It takes great pictures and it is small enough that I carry it in its case in my purse at all times. My purse is not like a suit case either. There are a lot of things that I have not learned to use on it yet and maybe never will.I have only had one other digital camera, so I am not an expert on them. I really love the stabilizer that actually works. I am not real steady with taking pictures or any thing else as far as that goes. Like previously stated, I only have my Kodak Easy Share to compare it with and that one is too big to carry in my purse. The pictures with my Cannon are far superior to my Easy Share pictures, also. I like taking pictures of wild life. It is great to have on me at all times as I never know when a photo opt is going to come along. It is easy to use, cause I am a dummy. The only thing that I have found that I wish were different so far, is that the turn off button and the snap button are a little too close together and I find myself turning off the camera unexpectedly. Fingers must be too big. Anyway... as a causual photographer, I really do like this camera and would and have recommeded it.

Great for active situations and ebay photos
The LCD screens on most cameras are too small for me to see well, but this camera has a huge screen, which allows for fast, one-handed operation, even from horseback. That was a significant factor in my purchase decision and I've not been disappointed.

The camera takes very close shots with great clarity which is unusual for a point and shoot. In a low light indoor situation, the limited flash distance is an advantage if you're trying to photograph a particular item and don't want to show the rest of your room. That limited flash isn't good if you're trying to capture a group at a long table in a dim restaurant, however--you won't see the people toward the back very well.

I wish the camera were perfect because with its small, sleek size, I can easily carry it everywhere with me and as a result have been able to capture some super shots that presented themselves unexpectedly. No more wishing I had a good camera at hand--because I do. I've not yet found a camera that is perfect for everything, and for what this camera does well, together with its portability and ease of use, I've been very pleased.

With only a 3.8x zoom, I know I'm not going to get the distant mountain wildlife shot, but with the clarity and stunning color I get in decent light, the 8mp quality allows me to zoom in and enlarge a portion of a picture pretty well when I'm photo editing on the computer later. I've had the camera for about a year and have had no problems with it. It's gotten a lot of use and will continue to. Battery life is great.

Flash Spots and Red-Eye!
I did a lot of research for a camera, and the SD870 was rated extremely high in a lot of reviews, so I bought one after playing around with it a bit.

The feel is great and the options are good, but over half my indoor flash shots have a couple of round spots on them. It looks as if there's something on the lens, but that's not the case. I see this is an issue in many other forums.

Another big issue is that the red-eye reduction is terrible on this camera. Compared to my previous Olympus without red-eye reduction, the Canon is awful. Nearly every single flash shot accentuates red-eye. It's far worse than other cameras that I have used.

good no problems...
so far so great as well.... but it has so many features and potential... haven't even unleashed half of its potential.... but good .. everything works... no problems... connections easy to figure etc...

Great receiver, but quality control issue?
I purchased this receiver in May 2008. Very solid, lots of inputs, great sound. Love having one HDMI running to my television mounted over the fireplace. Runs hot but I keep it on top of my cabinet to allow adequate ventilation. Worked well for about 7 months, now the display no longer comes on. I have heard that this is a problem many owners have had--usually happens about a year after purchase. Trying to get repaired under warranty now.

In An Entirely Different League!
I must say that I was a bit hesitant about ordering this receiver, but I don't regret my purchase one bit. I previously had an Onkyo home theater receiver, but it does not compare to this receiver. It gives my speakers a whole new dimension. I love the various listening modes and I am still playing with the Audessey feature and like what it does and how it brings out hidden and subtle passages. Yes, this unit gets hot, but so did my previous unit. This is a fantastic receiver for the money with high quality amps and features!

so far so good
if you need to power some big speakers this is the reciever for you. Puts out nice sound.

Rock solid Receiver and bang for your buck winner
I have had this receiver for almost 6 months and Onkyo has again made me a solid reciever. I have had no issues at all and Amazon was first rate in the shipping of this to me.It's very heavy though and as sme have experienced, it can get very hot if not well ventilated. I solved this with an aftermarket AV Cooler which sits atop the receiver and exhausts air out the back of my enclosed cabinet. You won't go wrong with this unit and will have nothing but smiles on yours and your guests faces when you hit the power key. Enjoy!

Best Multi Media Player Out There
First, I'd like to say that everyone who rated this below four stars either is completely crazy or dropped it in a river and are complaining it doesn't work. Apple has always been one step ahead of everyone, e.g. iPhone, App Store, many features on Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5) are way advanced compared MS Windows Vista, Apple TV, and other products.

Pros:
Amazing and extremely responsive touchscreen
Downloadable Apps
Big screen that is good for movies and shows
Screen is pretty high resolution and looks good
Internet browser that is not bogged down like on mobiles and gaming systems e.g. Nintendo Wii, PSP
Youtube app that is made specifically for the Touch
iTunes Store built and also App Store with update notifier
Notes, Calendar, Weather, Stocks, Mail, Scientific Calculator, World Clock with Timer and Alarm, and Contacts all built in
Maps App that is able to locate you with okay accuracy
Extremely user friendly interface
Syncing with iPhoto, Mail, iCal, Address Book on Mac computers (too bad for Windows users)
Light Sensor
Wi-Fi connectivity
Good Photo viewer (although photos are slightly blurry when you zoom in all the way)
Built by Apple, which means you will the help you need with the interface and get good service at the stores

Cons:
Sometimes touch screen doesn't respond when you press on a small button (just lick your finger and it will work)
frozen once in the year i have had it and sometimes lags
back can get scratched so get a case
no speaker (new one has a speaker)
keyboard can get annoying

Overall an awesome iPod and PDA so if you can afford it don't go Zune, Archos, Sansa, or Samsung, buy an Apple iPod Touch. No other company can beat it, especially Microsoft with there ridiculous little Zunes.

Apple Got It Right
I bought the 16 GB 1st Generation iPod Touch in June of 2008, which means that I have owned it for less than a year. It has already become my favorite device, and probably the best gadget that I've bought so far in my life.

This is the first mp3 player that I have ever owned, and I'm glad that I went with this one. Before purchasing the iPod touch, I did a lot research on cheaper alternatives. The main thing for me, at the time, was having a device to play my music; the wifi feature of the ipod touch looked like something that I would use occasionally, but it wasn't a necessity. Despite this, my love for sleek new gadgetry led me to purchasing the ipod touch, because none of the alternatives were comparable in the number of features. Little did I know, at the time, how extraordinarily helpful those features would be to me.

One of the most brilliant things about the ipod touch is its ergonomics (its design). This is something that people overlook far too often when they're purchasing some gadget, and I advise you to take it into consideration. It's obvious that the developers of the ipod touch put a lot of thought into the design of this product, because it's incredibly intuitive/natural in use. In fact, it's so simple to figure out that they don't even include a manual with it! Even the most technologically inept people can usually figure it out in a few minutes. All of your music on the ipod touch is also incredibly easy and quick to navigate through; you can browse alphabetically by playlist, artist, song, album, composer, genre, or by something else. On the right-hand side of the screen, while browsing for a song, there's a list of the letters A to Z; You can touch any of those letters, and it will automatically jump you to all of the songs whose titles begin with that letter. It's just another way that the ipod developers made this device quick and intuitive. Also, no matter where you are in the ipod (whether you're browsing in Safari, checking your email, browsing youtube, or anything else), you can just double press the "home" button (the physical button at the bottom of the ipod), and a box will pop up to give you instant access to your music controls, such as the volume, a pause/play button, and two buttons for "previous song" and "next song." It might sound like a gimmick, but I use it a lot when I'm browsing safari, because it saves me the time of having to go back into the music area to adjust the volume, and then back to safari. Once again, a quick, intuitive feature. "Typing" on the ipod touch takes a little bit of getting used to. Eventually, you'll find a method that works best for you. The ipod automatically tries to correct mistyped words, which can allow you to type fairly fast on it... I find that I'm able to type faster on my ipod than I can text message on my phone.

Now let's talk about wifi. As I mentioned earlier in this review, I didn't expect to get much use out of the wifi. I was dead wrong. It turns out that the wifi is the main reason I love this device so much. I'm a college student, and the school I attend provides free wifi access to all students all over the campus. Do you see where this is going? The ipod touch has actually saved me the trouble of having to lug my laptop around, when I just want access to my email and a tool for browsing the web. To me, this has become invaluable, because I'm already carrying a couple books and notebooks around. Adding a fairly heavy laptop to that is just highly undesirable, whereas carrying an ipod touch around in my pocket is no problem at all. An interesting thing about the ipod touch is how personal it can become; Because the ipod so portable, having your e-mail, the internet, and your music in your pocket at all times can turn out to be helpful or enjoyable in ways that you won't know, until you have it yourself.

I have already managed to use nearly every feature that the ipod touch provides. Let me go through the list:

1.) I browse safari all the time at college. In a number of cases, safari alone has "replaced" my laptop.
2.) I've programmed my class and work schedules into the ipod's calendar, just in case I forget something.
3.) I use the e-mail feature of the ipod touch all the time as well. You can program as many e-mail accounts into the ipod as you want, and you then have quick and easy access to all of them, via the "Mail" icon on the home screen. You don't have to type in your password each time, so you can go through and check your mail very quickly. I usually check my e-mail on my ipod right when I get up in the morning. It's nice not having to turn my computer on to do that.
4.) I've programmed all of the contacts from my cellphone into the ipod's "Contacts" section, in case something happens to my cellphone
5.) I've used the YouTube feature a number of times, when I get reallllly bored
6.) I haven't used the "stocks" feature myself, but it could certainly be helpful to those of you who are interested in the stock market... obviously.
7.) To my surprise, I have used the "maps" feature a number of times. In one instance, it helped get from Wisconsin to New York City. In another instance (when I was new to my college campus' surroundings), it helped me find a place to eat!
8.) I use the "weather" feature all the time. Pretty self-explanatory. Nice to know what the weather is, or what it's going to be.
9.) In the "clock" section of the ipod, there's a programmable alarm clock which I've used a few times.
10.) I've used the calculator a couple of times. If you buy the 2nd generation software upgrade, you'll also get a scientific calculator.
11.) I've used the "notes" feature a number of times, mostly just to save a thought, or something that I read before it slips my mind. Of course, you can use it for whatever you want; it's just a virtual notepad.
12.) Obviously I listen to music all the time... After all, at the core, the ipod touch is still an mp3 player. Oh, and music sounds great on it, if you were wondering...
13.) I've put videos and pictures on the ipod, for convenient, portable entertainment.
14.) Every now and then, I have made a purchase from the built in iTunes Store feature.

As you can probably tell, the built in wifi is definitely what makes the ipod touch so worth it for me. Thus, I advise you to evaluate your area before making a purchasing decision. If you're someone who has wifi spots all over the place (like I do, on a college campus) I would highly recommend the ipod touch to you... But if you rarely use the internet, you should probably consider a different ipod, because you can get a lot more music/video capacity for less money (take a look at the ipod classic).

Before I close this review off, I'll briefly mention durability... In short, this is a surprisingly durable device. I have dropped it from 2-3 feet on some hard surfaces, more times than I wish to say. It still works flawlessly. I saw a review which said that it's susceptible to damage from condensation, if you move it from a cold to a warm environment quickly. However, I live in Wisconsin (where winters are agonizingly cold), and I haven't had any water damage issues. Just be relatively careful, and your ipod should be fine. Also, in the specifications, Apple says that the iPod Touch's screen is resistant to scratches, because it's made out of tempered glass. This is true... but the key word here is "resistant," not "immune." If you don't buy a protective screen overlay, you will eventually scratch the screen. Personally, I don't care. I haven't bought a screen protector for mine, because the scratches are hard to see, and you can't see them AT ALL when the screen is turned on. Just be aware, the screen CAN and WILL be scratched with long term use.

I would give the ipod touch 6 stars out of 5 if I could. As an mp3 player, it has made life a bit more entertaining. As a wifi device, it has made my life easier, and that's the key. Plus, like all ipods, it comes with a decent pair of those well known white earbuds. Highly recommended.

Thanks for reading.

My Son opened a broken I pod touch for Christmas
It was sad, it came broken and I didnt check it out before wrapping his ipod. I have to call Apple and we have to wait for 2 weeks for it to be fixed or replaced.

Stunning Technology By Apple!
Received this 16GB ipod touch (1G) for a week now but still stunned by Apple's amazing technology! I've used a few ipods before but none of them can compare to this one. It is simply the best portable device on market. It is very user friendly. Get on line is so simple when you're in a hot spot. The Apple's App Store is amazing. It has so many useful software for free! Even for those who need to pay, the price is very reasonable (mostly from (asin:B0012JCYPC).99 to ). I remember I'd paid more than to buy a dictionary software for my Palm PDA. Now with the same I can buy more than 10 app software for my ipod touch!
The good thing for the ipod touch is it uses the same firmware with the iphone. That means all the software for the iphone can also be used by the ipod touch. There are tons of them. So I recommend you to get the biggest memory that you can afford. 8GB is simply not quite enough. The difference between the 1G and 2G is so little. I would recommend to save the money and get a bigger memory for the 1G ipod touch. You would appreciate to have more built-in memory than the extra volume button and a built-in speaker on the 2G. I would love to see Apple to put a memory expansion slot on the next generation ipod touch.
Last advice is Don't Buy This For You Kids. It is so fun, addictive and so portable, they will have a very hard time to put it down and finish their homework!

Otter Box Defender
I have a 3G phone. The on-line specs said it was compatible with a 3G iPhone but it wasn't. The incompatible case snapped off my silence lever. I returned the Otterbox and got a full refund and offer to have my phone repaired by the seller. Very good customer service. Apple fixed the phone for free. I received a new 3G compatible case for the Otterbox company and the product is fantastic. It protects the phone well. I don't use the belt storage unit because it's very difficult to dislodge the phone from the storage unit. Overall, great product, great customer service from the seller, apple and Otterbox. Just make sure you have the correct case.

Do not buy!
I don't like reading reviews that say do not buy, because I always think it just happened to them.

But, Sadly I have to say it for this product. It is a great case, strong and well made. BUT two problems; The oil slick that the other reviews mention are true. I tried for hours, taking it off, wiping it with a microfiber cloth, putting back together, repeat, and nothing. Sometimes it would look like I fixed the problem but then it would come back after touching the phone for awhile.

Then the BIG problem happened. Someone called me, and as soon as they said something an echo of their voice would come at them. I thought maybe it just messed up. So I tried calling my house line, and I got the echo. I took it apart and tested it, no echo. I put it back on, echo is back.

So in the end I returned it, and I am really disappointed. Besides the problems, this is great case.

The best total protection with one minor issue.
After trying many different types of cases, pouches, and protective films the OtterBox Defender Series won my vote. My only problem is the membrane will eventually display small or light everyday scratches and the bubbles or air traps spots will not come off. I tried my hand and other non-sharp items to smooth out the air bubbles to no avail. The iPhone will loose its good looking aesthetics. However, I have learned my lesson many times over and will never use the phone without any protection. Many people complain about the access to the silent button, but you can easily go to general settings and change the Sounds and under Ring with the little bell icon, turn off the Vibrate switch and slide the volume slider all the way down. I got used to the bubbles and love the overall usefulness of the OtterBox Defender Series.

Awesome case
This is one of the best cases I've had for my phone yet. You could drop this thing twenty times and not have a scratch or crack. My only complaint would be the fact that you can't reach the silence switch on the side of the phone. However, you can just turn the volume down manually or go into the settings. It's a great investment for those who are continually dropping their phone (great for my husband!).

Best iPhone Case EVER!
I've had 3 different cases by three different manufactures since I bought my iPhone almost a year ago. This Otterbox case is, BY FAR, the best one I've purchased! Other reviews have criticized the "oil slick" created by the protective screen cover, but it doesn't bother me. I would recommend this case to anybody.

Want to look hot and feel comfortable?
Then these shoes are perfect. They run true to size and are shaped to accomodate the foot without squeezing it. Plus they are like sex on a stick.

Slight issue with heel but otherwise great
These shoes are great, and surprisingly comfortable. I have fairly wide feet, and usually with pointy stiletto's I find my toes uncomfortably squished, but I did not have that problem with these!

However, after a few months of wear - the heel tip came slightly unscrewed, which was easy to fix simply by re-screwing the heel on tighter.

GOOOOOOD ....:)))))
I have ordered this item 0.5 size bigger, instead of 8,5 i have ordered size 9, and it seems it was very good choice, it is high hill and a little bit large pump will be very comfortable, when you have to were them for a long time... very satisfied, thanks a lot. :)

My favorite shoe...of all time.
I love this shoe. I bought it in every color. I bought a backup black one for when my black one gives out if this shoe is discontinued.

I'm enslaved to this shoe in a manner best described as pathetic.
It's sassy.

The shoes were for my daughter who attends college in Kentucky. She had seen them in stores but they never had her size. I found them in her size, color, and at a better price on your web site. We were very surprised when the shoes arrived in just a couple of days since we did extended shipping to save cost. My daughter received the shoes at her address in Kentucky before she left for a trip, I had ordered them from home in Ohio! We are extremely pleased with our purchase. THANK YOU!
